SRI

What is it :

The Somato Respiratory Integration is a body-centered technique developped in parallel to Network Spinal Analysis (NSA) by the american chiropractor Dr. Donald Epstein (more information about NSA below).

When we are going through periods of doubt, stress, illness, we disconnect from parts of our body because we are trying to survive and don't want to feel emotions like pain, sadness, fear. To cope, we anesthetize some parts and disconnect from them rather than listen to the signals they are sending. We can disconnect from positive feelings and resources as well as negative ones. The body mind is amazingly good at surviving and the body is full of unsuspected resources.

SRI allows you to reconnect to your body and to learn to listen to it's langage. Through several skills - touch, movement, breath, focus and verbalization - the exercices of this technique permit to you to hear and recognize the experience of your body. The body can express the emotions which were stuck, blocked, contained and who express themsleves as tension or pain.

We experience our lives in different ways, seeing life through different lenses, and in SRI we call these stages. Each stage has it's own rhythm, state of consciousness, energy. Dr. Epstein has recognized 12 different stages, which correspond to the different rhythms of life. 12 exercises have been developed to correspond to these stages.

These exercices and your self-observation lead to a better awareness of your body for a self-healing and change.

Network Spinal Analysis (NSA):
The chiropractic Network is a global approach of the spine and nervous system, developed by Dr. Donald Epstein 20 years ago.
Your response to your environment depends on the flexibility of your nervous system. Each person with a nervous system free of interference allows his emotional, physical and nervous aspects to communicate freely with each other, move energy and release tension. During a physical trauma or in a state of mental or emotional stress, the nervous system isn't always able to manage all this information and subluxations can appear. When a subluxation appears the information and the circulation of energy is interfered with, and different parts become isolated from one another.
The "Network" technique doesn't apply physical manipulation of the spine. It's light contacts on precise places along the spine will allow your body mind to correct it's tension. Later, your body will correct by itself. The chiropractor is here to guide you in this work, where you are active to 50%. Your body and nervous system become more pliable and your capacity of adaptation to stress will be better, whether it is emotional, physical or chemical stress.
